Does anyone have experiences and ideas on how to make an Open House/back-to-school night more engaging for parents?
Some background: I'm an administrator at a public high school of about 2,000 students. Parents travel their student's individual schedule for about 2 hours and attendance is decent, but could be better. Each teacher is able to spend about 10 to 15 minutes with each "class" over the course of the evening. We ask our teachers to get away from a rules review presentation and try something content-specific that would engage parents in the brief time they have. There is a little down time with refreshments but we're looking to mix it up a little (or even a lot).
What are some innovative or successful open house things you've seen, experienced, or always wanted to try?
