I can finish a bachelors in Fire Science in two years or get a more useful degree over 4 years. I already have my associates and my main interest in education is to hedge myself in case I get hurt and can't work a physically demanding job anymore. However I also would receive an annual 5% stipend and a raise in the military if I commission with the Reserves.
I read that only 27% of degree holders actually work in the field they studied. Am I wasting my time on a degree that can't be used anywhere or will having the degree and life experience actually get me a desirable career if I need it?
