Getting a degree in engineering, medicine, nursing, and law

I know this is unpractical to most as people typically want to graduate from one field and work right away to earn money.

But, I was wondering how someone would go about doing this? How long it would take (on average)? How much money it would cost (in USD)? How a person could use the combined knowledge they gained to contribute to the world? And if you know someone who has multiple degrees, each from different fields, tell me about what they do right now.
