High school student from Tennessee here. After frequently reaching out to administration for answers and receiving little, I’ve come to you.
Our governor has cancelled the rest of the school year. And the following rules for online education have been outlined as follows:
• Attendance can be taken, but unexcused absences and truancy no longer apply.
• Grades cannot fall below where they stood on March 20th, but can be improved.
My school has not given anyone any grades for the work they’ve completed since we began working from home.
Students soon realized a lack of participation seems to come with no punishment and there seems to be no reward for the work we’ve done.
As an active leader in the student government I’ve reached out to several administrators with varying levels of authority. I only got an answer after emailing our superintendent twice, and it essentially said we will get back to you soon. What is going on?
Will this lack of participation have consequences? Will we still receive the credits and graduate to the next grade level?
