Western Education System

I have always wondered about the western way of teaching. I’ve always read about how it’s been helpful in raising up persons capable of running an empire. In the book I’m reading now “Curious” by Ian Leslie, it talks about how we have an innate desire to learn. With this Western education system, I feel as though this is not what is happening. I have seen kids who fall out of school because they have lost their drive. They told me they just don’t see the point in learning excessive material. They feel so spread out with the knowledge they have to learn rather than knowledge they want to learn. I just hope that this sparks a discussion. I want to know other people’s thoughts on this as well.
