Give me your “never fail” lessons and tricks!

The ELA department at my school managed to convince the rest of the staff to use title one funds to pay for two sections of reading intervention next year, and I get to teach it! Yay! I’d love to hear some strategies, tips, tricks, and lessons you use in your classrooms.

For context, I work at a diverse, low-income middle school. Many of the students who will be placed in my class are coming with huge deficits, think 2nd to 3rd grade reading levels, low stamina, and tend to be work avoidant.
