My first post on reddit so forgive me if I make a mistake.
I devised a rough draft of an education system with the goal of creating a more capable specialized workforce.
An education system whose focus is to produce specialized professionals as opposed to today's education system that only gives the basic information of each subject, generalists.
I'm going to use the way my country's grade structure as an example.
From 1st grade to the 6th grade would be a period where students find what subjects or concepts they have talent or which one they prefer studying.
From 6th to the 9th grade the students would already have an option to specialize in a subject, and if they do, they would choose between one of the many fields that subject provides to get a more in-depth education. Students who choose to not to specialize would go on as usual.
When students arrive at high school they would continue their in-depth study of the subject they have chosen and generalist students would also continue their studies while still having the option to specialize.
At the end of high school both types of students could go to college or University but generalists would be at a disadvantage.
For specialized students college or uni would be like nowadays, a place to produce research papers and continue advancing their studies.
Generalist students students would be the ones to handle the the more common yet important jobs (construction, retail and accounting for example)
The curriculum of each student would accommodate their chosen subject path but some subjects would be mandatory such as (Native language), mathematics and maybe a foreign language to allow for flexibility.
While other subjects are no longer required, that doesn't mean they don't have importance, students would be encouraged to learn new things that aren't really used in day to day life but have a benefit to knowing anyway, instead of being forced to.
I have a few concerns about a system like this, one would be that the work market would not be able to handle so many professionals, two is letting people have the say on things, while not a bad thing it has it's own risks big or small.
That's all I think, thanks for reading this, leave your opinion on the comments I need different perspectives
