Public College vs Private College

Hi all,

I was hoping someone could explain this for me. Im a College student attending Penn State, A public University. My younger siblings got accepted to a private college. Saint Vincent.

What is the difference between attending a public vs private university? I know tuition is more, but is a degree from a private school worth more, then a degree from a public university?
