How do Teachers in America Brave the Turmoil?

I would argue there are two jobs which require near unparalleled conviction and dedication, a United States Marine (Semper Fi) and a K-12 teacher in the United States. While the former is not related to this subreddit, the ladder is, I cannot help but wonder how teachers in America manage. You have to navigate low budgets, salaries which do not nearly represent your worth, unruly students (prone to violence) and occasional school shooting.

I was an 'English Teacher' in the Mighty PRC for roughly a year and a half, before I took a gig in political consulting back here in the US. I taught English in Shenzhen, the bristling metropolis in the south of China, right across the Pearl river from Hong Kong. I was provided an apartment, made a generous salary which afforded me a comfortable lifestyle and never had to worry about gun violence. Yet when discussing working conditions with my former colleagues who have gone back to America, due to Covid, they are absolutely miserable.

I became an ESL teacher to gain experience and enjoy the far east, yet many teachers feel they are making a difference in America. In China teachers simply do not fret over money, worry about an unannounced gunman (or knifeman that has been remedied); whilst there are certainly issues, they are unequivocally happy, content and prosperous.

To teachers in America I salute you, it is something I could simply not survive. While you train and educate the nations youth, there are social media influencers, TikTok trend setters and Onlyfans content creators who make your annual salary in a month, that is egregious! In a succinct form, how can you perform this job successfully? Lastly, in America the land of self interest and indulgence, where it pains me to regurgitate, teachers are classified as Losers by half the country. Almost no one pays any attention to teachers while Kim Kardashian and other top Influencers make ungodly sums of money.

I do not intend to insult or denigrate anyone who takes up the admirable profession of teaching with this post, I simply am curious about how you pull it off in America. Take care, Ciao Ciao and please feel free to express an opposing opinion.
