IQ of 75 able to do vocational track at high school—Medical Assistant?

Hi, my son has an IQ of around 75 and has been tested a couple times. His strengths are his communication skills and his wonderfully sweet personality. He struggles with everything—reading and math. He has very poor motor skills.

I am exploring vocational paths at high school. I see him working with people. Only option for which this is a major asset is Medical Assistant and this requires passing the CCMA exam. Lots of solid jobs where he could use those people skills.

He is 11 and struggles with memorizing some basic math facts still. Do you think such a path (passing that exam) is feasible? If you happen to have had similar experience, please share.

Also, he thinks he really wants to be a police officer or be in the army but I REALLY don’t think that’s doable nor do I think that would be consistent with his strengthens and weaknesses. Ugh. Poor baby.

I also wonder if he will be able to pass drivers license test….Thinking about moving to the country but would hate for him to be stuck without transportation. Anyway, I digress…

Thank you:-)
