Finding job as school counselor

Hello

I am currently working at a school as a community liaison and the experience is amazing. I have applied to grad school to get my credential to become a school counselor. I have heard from people in the field (counselors) that it is really difficult to find a job and for some counselors it took them more than 4 years to find the job, and that they ended up getting the job bc they were already a part of the school.

How difficult is it to find a job as a school counselor after earning credential? Should I even go into grad school if I know I won't be able to find a job even with my credential? I'm in California if that matters at all
