At many schools I visit where exams are a priority teachers spoon feed students information then do lots of practice exam questions. This kind of teaching to the test does get good exam results, but does not prepare students for the more independent learning they need to engage in at college. It also (I think) does not stimulate the most able. Does anyone have secrets for getting good exam results without sacrificing independence?
