Hopefully it's okay to post this here. Just wanted to start a discussion about these types of courses, starting with telling you my situation and then hopefully hearing a little feedback, or other peoples similar experiences or situations.
I'm 25, two kids and getting married soon. Left school with basic grades to join the military. That didn't work out long term so I've been working minimum wage up until now. I decided recently to apply for college and to try something totally different, and hopefully use what I consider my best skills that I never had the maturity or patience to hone when I was younger. Communication skills and IT skills were my best grades in school. I'm hoping that beginning a career path in business, admin, IT etc will open many doors for me and that one day I might have a reputable job where I can earn just a little more than the pennies I currently do. The course I've been accepted on to is SCQF level 5/6, which is a little bit like the same level of academics as maybe, I donno, being in high school around the age of 16/17? We've all got to start somewhere.
Advice to kids still in school: don't quit school until you've explored all options. There f**k all out here in the real world if you don't have the qualifications to back you up. Also, learn to drive while you still live with your parents, and you have the money. This had become more of a rant/lecture as I have gone further into the post 😂
