Educators, future educators, and even parents, a large struggle we see in some schools is the lack of involvement from parents as well as community members. This leads to students not being as engaged in school or the community which costs them valuable opportunities everywhere.
In my county, I am currently trying to talk to schools to encourage them with ideas about upping the involvement of the community within the school and the students' involvement in activities outside of the school. These ideas range from painting classrooms, halls, etc. to ensuring lockers work before each school year. The list is endless, as well as the benefits.
So, if you have a strong sense of kinship in your community with your schools and locals, how do you do it? If not, how would you do it?
