Why Schools Preferred to Be Built Near Train and/or Bus Stations

I live in New York for the past 17 years. The house is a few blocks from an intermediate school and a parochial school. Even thought the intermediate school is three blocks from the nearest train station, the school is next to a bus line. Now that there is an offshoot of the intermediate school, the LaGuardia Airport-bound bus stand is relocated to the corner with a co-op.

The elementary school I attended is next to a bus line. A few years ago, there was a casualty of a student at the school, the Flushing-bound bus stand was be relocated at the corner of a used car dealer. Before the bus stand is in front of the Toyota dealer.

The college I currently attend is near a subway station, and close to a dozen bus lines.
