Hello Reddit community.
I am a 16 year old (17 in 3 weeks) male student attending a government high school in Australia, currently in year 10.
I have wanted to do IT as a career since year 7, and I have been learning about programming, networking and hardware since.
For year 11 and 12, I chose the subjects: • English (standard) • Mathematics (standard) • Chemistry • Multimedia • Software • IT
The last two being IT subjects. However, these did not run, so I chose to do a VET IT class through TAFE, which, you guessed it, didn't run either.
Since I am not doing any IT related subjects (Multi-media is more design), it is safe to assume that I can drop out, as I don't want to go to university, and I can do IT at TAFE.
I have been in advanced Mathematics since year I, and everything we are learning this year, I have already learnt prior. I have no interest in English, chemistry, physics (which replaced software), or multimedia.
It is legal for me to drop out when I turn 17, and asking my maths and multimedia teachers if it the right idea, they agreed with me.
Do you guys think that it is a good idea, given my circumstances?
