After studying the education policies of Finland, regarded as the leading academic nation in the world, I think encouraging a "no homework" policy would be beneficial. Not only would this free up time for students to take breaks from the academic environment which in turn would boost productivity, it would also free up time for much needed socializing and pursuing other hobbies.
