Foreign exchange advise/help.

Hello, I guess this is the most appropriate subreddit to post something like this on. As of now I live in the US and as of entering high school, have become very disappointed in our education system for various reasons. Even before I gained these opinions, I’ve always wanted to participate in a foreign exchange programme to study somewhere in Europe or Asia for at least 3-5 months over the summer. I would like to ask for advise and help on how foreign exchange works, what are the best and cheapest (if possible) programmes offered, and maybe, experiences from veterans if there are any. Right now I’m eyeing the cities of Strasbourg in France and Stuttgart in Germany as possible candidates for a trip abroad, plus my family has a few friends in Strasbourg. If you have any other suggestions for cities on any continent with supposedly good education systems you’d like to share please do. I was originally going to ask this on the smaller foreign exchange and transfer subreddits but I could tell I wouldn’t get much of a response. Thank you for reading this already too long post.
