I'm looking into teaching as a career. I have my doubts, but I also deeply want to try and do it. I know many complaints that come from teachers in their schools, and I've heard enough negatives. Recently I asked Reddit for the best book on education, and someone recommended Weapons of Mass Instruction. I read it, enjoyed it, but it left me thinking I'm crazy for trying to get into this line of work. I've tutored and worked at learning centers, and I love working with kids. I admit I see problems, but please recommend a great book on education, that is intelligent and up to date, but that also has a more positive view of education. It doesn't have to be propaganda, just something that gives advice and offers perspectives so that educators can do better, not so that they quit. Any kind of books are fine, even a good documentary film. Don't care if the book is a textbook, comic book, fiction or non fiction. I really need some inspiration.
