Hello r/education,
I’m reading about the issues everyone is facing with sending kids and teachers back to school, and I was curious to see what everyone thinks about outdoor schooling?
I went through the conventional public school system, and always thought outdoor schooling would have been so much more awesome, would have improved my focus (see ya fluorescent lighting), and ultimately resulted in a superior state of mind to enter the workforce and contribute positively to society.
With the pandemic, although presenting challenges to our current system, also presents opportunities to take a hard look at foundational aspects of education in modern developed society.
With poor reviews from the spring of 2020 of moving education online, how far of a stretch do you feel is outdoor teaching? Same curriculum, just outdoor settings where possible - and maybe explore some additional courses on nature and the environment?
