How would I apply for residency in a new state without being there for a full year first?

Hello I want to transfer school but we all know what out of state tuition is like. I’m not sure whether to apply now and risk getting my residency request denied. So how would I go about establishing residency, for Florida (FAU & FIU) specifically, in order to get in state tuition? Thank you.
