I would like to ask my fellow educators your opinion about something.
Please type in a nonprofit that you are familiar with in your area, large or small, and if you see it in the list (you can sort by State), click on it and then scroll down to CEO, Executive Director and then look at their salary.

When you find the person in the list, look them up on LinkedIn.
My point is this, teachers and nurses work hard to improve people's lives.
Nonprofit leaders hire volunteers and/or social workers to move Federal money around with the stipulation that the subsidies are restricted to FPL (federal poverty level) guidelines for vulnerable people who are in need of a place to live. (similar to ACA for health care).
They also move donated clothes and food around as well.
My point is this, I have my B.S. in Finance and a M.S. Ed. and I am homeless and turned away from all jobs I apply to. I hear, "overqualified" "you should start your own business."
I am a never married childfree woman. I never taught as a FT paid teacher in a school because I returned to corporate after earning my Masters.
I reported corporate malfeasance at a financial employer that ended up with the company being fined heavily and then sold off, including the property which is now a warehouse distribution center.
I was honest and my integrity wasn't valued.
Social services don't solve financial or housing problems. They are temporary but they create barriers to returning to self-sufficency because of the enormous data collection and data sharing that occurs between govt agencies, nonprofits and background screening companies.
Lots of people aren't aware of how nonprofits actually work, nor do they understand why they don't "solve" societal problems. They actually perpetuate them.
