Do you guys prefer a earlier summer break June 1st - August 10 or a later summer break I.e late June-Labor Day?

While schools in the US traditionally operated between Labor Day to Mid June or late June and have summer break in between those dates. However since about the 1990s-2000s more and more school districts decided to move the summer vacation up a number of weeks, often breaking around first days of June until early-Mid August, either to place more of the school year before their state's standardized tests or to schedule final semester exams before Christmas break. Thus for many students around the US this week marks the last days of summer vacation.
An earlier start/end does not necessarily mean a shorter summer vacation and the number of days of the school year remains pretty much the same. Schools in most of NYS don't break for summer until pretty much last month of June and breaks till September Labor Day or so. This is the same with a number of other countries' parts of the Northern Hemisphere.
Though which is better an earlier summer vacation that ends in the dog days of summer but has exams prior to Christmas.
Or a later summer vacation that is pretty much two months long July to August ending at Sept 1 or Labor Day and have exams after Christmas break?

And which schedule is better for education as well as other needs of students and teachers based on your experience?
