[Question] Is 'child rearing' a common and widely used term in educational circles of English speaking countries?

English is not my native language and I'm applying for a teaching job in an English speaking country. In my job application I say:

I am always looking for more opportunities to enrich my knowledge about education and child rearing, and based on your school's mission statement I believe I found the perfect candidate!

Do you think this adequately conveys my message that I look forward to learning more about how to raise and work with children?
