Does anyone have any links to research discussing the optimum amount of time each lesson should be, taking into account; engagement, skill practise and knowledge retention?
At my current school the majority of my classes are 100 minutes long, 3 times a week. I find this to be too long and I struggle to engage the kids (even including numerous short activities and brain breaks) and I find the students tend to TAKE THEIR TIME completing activities because they know the have a lot of time before the bell.
*I teach history and science to year 7's through to 11's.
