I will be personally tutoring an 8th grader at maths, who has some sort of ADHD and lacks basic understanding in some aspects. Any recommendations?

So I did in fact meet the boy. He seemed very distracted, didnt make eye contact and was shy.

The problem is he doesnt comprehend basic concepts, like division (÷). (if that's what it's called in English).

What his mother wants me to help him achieve isn't a superb grade, but some tools that would help him participate in the classroom, and also the basic tools to be able to adapt to a social enviroment (paying a bill, understanding the concept and importance of time, being responsible etc)

Any suggestion as to how I should approach this case would be well appreciated.
