Can I do a Visual Communications/Graphic Design degree if I have a diploma in Mass Communications ?

So I’m 18 and I have a diploma in Mass Communications.

I’m unsure if I can take a Visual Communications/Graphic Design degree.

Also, can anyone tell me what do people do in the Visual Communications field and graphic designs field ? How do they differ ? Which is more suitable for someone who is more on the Creative side (I think I can create products but I hate math and I don’t think I’m suitable for marketing or any of that sort)
