Do pupils/parents/teachers prefer a school calendar that starts after labor day and end mid June but with only traditional breaks/holidays and not much more during school year or a school calendar that starts mid August that has more days of breaks and teacher development days in between?

These days September and Labor Day just seems another holiday/month between the school year than the divide between summer and the school year in much of the US.

Though anyone torn on whether it is better to have a school year where there are very limited breaks other than holidays and 2 weeks Christmas winter, and one-week spring breaks and Finals after Christmas break.

Or a school calendar that starts early-Mid August but with more additional breaks(at least for students) in between and finals before Christmas break? This seem to be more of the norm than the exception in 2/3 of districts around the country.

Even though schools are starting as earlier as August 10 these days. Though it appears with the additional added breaks in between most school years just end a week earlier than in the past not that many schools break for summer before Memorial Day.
