Hey all, I'm a teacher and amateur game designer. For the month of August you can buy my game about treaty education in Canada for only $1.00 USD.
This two-player game comes with a license that grants educators permission to photocopy the game board for their students. The content is designed with students ages 12-18, and was playtested predominantly with non-Indigenous sixth grade students. It is designed to help students understand the difficulty of negotiating for specific rights from the perspective of Indigenous peoples and from the perspective of the crown, as well as the futility of signing a treaty with a government that has no plans to honour the agreements.
Essentially, it's a way to teach a bummer of a history lesson through a medium that kids actually engage with.
