Moving to Alberta, Canada in a couple of months. Going to start in oil. Then want to get a degree. What's the most efficient way to get it?

I'm a Ukrainian guy, 36 y o, who recently got his CUAET visa which gets me 3 years open work permit with a great chance of getting a permanent residency. Planning on getting in the oil industry to start with but it's not sustainable long term.

I'm a university dropout, and for a number of obvious reasons, I'd like to get a degree. Likely I won't be able to save enough to not work for several years to pursue a university degree. Therefore, I'm considering a 2-year college degree. I'm not well familiar with the Canadian education system but it looks like it'll be possible to upgrade the college degree to a bachelor degree at a later point. I'm considering CS/IT as I've always been curious about it and already got the fundamentals covered.

What would my plan look like? Working a year or two, enrolling into NAIT, then finding a relevant job, working there for a while and enrolling into a university? How realistic is to study at a university and work at the same time? How do COOP programs work? What's the best ROI plan in my case so I could get a formal education and land a job in the field?
