Would having students pair up a week before each test and calculating their test scores as the sum of their own and their partner's encourage them to help each other study?

Although paired for the purposes of studying and test scoring, they would take the tests independently.

They could choose a different partner for each test. If there is an odd number of students, a group of three could be allowed.
