FAFSA and first generation student. Any experience?

Hello,

My friend is a single mother (father of a child died and she has no govt support) and I want to help her with the search of different aid programs for her 15yo daughter.

I am aware of programs like FAFSA but I never applied myself. If anyone has an experience and can share some tips, that would be very helpful!

Also, my friend never went to college. So her daughter will be the first one to go. Any idea if she can get aid for that as well?
