Does anyone know about or have a kid in the music and dance UK government scholarship scheme?

I am a parent and I just learnt the UK goverment funds heavily subsidised places at a select few music and dance schools (MDS) available to children from all socioeconomic backgrounds. I would to know if anyone had any personal experience of such schemes and how to maximise chance of admission. I’m particularly interested in the choristerships and musicianships.
