Large public school vs. small private school for elementary children

I have been going back and forth for months about sending my children (grades K and 2) to a Catholic school that I will be working at in the fall. Their current school is very large with class sizes ranging from 22-28 and 4 classrooms per grade level. The new school would be 1 class per grade, with class sizes ranging from 15-26 students. My kids would be going to a large public high school after 8th grade. My main concern is the being with the same kids for so many years and then transitioning to a large school for high school. Whether you had a similar experience or your kids are doing the same thing, I'd appreciate any insight. Thank you!
