My 5-year-old son scored a scaled score of 949 on this assessment, 3.1 GE. They’ve taken it 3 times this year and he’s been 99th percentile each time. He is reading fairly fluently (and big words, such as paleontologist LOL). He taught himself to read at 4. He goes to Kindergarten in the fall. Will they likely request testing for gifted? I don’t want to push the gifted narrative on him by any means (and I realize this score doesn’t mean much), but academically (in both reading and math) he’s able to do well above Kindergarten tasks. I just don’t want him to go through another year of learning this stuff again like has been in PK. He tells me often “I already know all this stuff, mom. We do it so the other kids can learn it”
Any suggestions? I figured I’ll just wait until his teacher speaks to me about him? I’ll be an SLP at his school next year.
