Is there a way for someone to get a degree from a college or university by teaching themselves what they need?

I am a super introverted person and hate going to crowded classes and venues. It is distracting and I can't learn well. I learn well by teaching myself things in my own time and in my own space. What are some options to get the degrees I need to succeed in my life while still learning in my own time and space? Or do I have to grit my teeth and bare it?
