I need advice for getting my daughter a 504 and I live in GA.
My story is a bit long, so I apologize. My ex just took over Primary custody of our 16 year old daughter from me. While living with me, school made her very anxious, she was tardy, absent a lot, then she just stopped going to school all together. I placed her in IOP.
My ex was suppose to start her in a 504, but during our custody battle in court (complicated won't go into detail), the GAL recommended he hold off on the 504 for 30 days to have the teachers get to know her and that's what he's doing.
Our daughter is on anti-anxiety medication, sees a therapist and a Psychiatrist. This man was only a weekend Dad, spent no time caring about her education or how she was doing before. But this is what he decided. I am so concerned, but is this typically normal for Districts to do with high anxiety truant kids?
