Is there a need to update the curriculum in a region or nation every now and again?

Is there a need to update the curriculum in a region or nation every now and again? Because, when I read the changes they propose it's always boils to the same things. These are things like: teaching 21st century skills and update the education to be 21st century proof. I also think the new ideas and goals are vague and not useful. So that's why I ask this question.
