Can anyone explain why I find it very difficult to learn things on my own, or use said learned subject practically, without someone who knows the the subject giving some form of confirmation if i am understanding or apply the knowledge correctly?

For example, I tried to learn programming by myself, I felt like I understood the parts but could not for the life of me apply that knowledge to create even a simple program beyond "hello world".
