Cultural Revolution in comparison to US today

Hello all,

After seeing the pepper spraying of the teacher by the student who couldn't stand the idea of giving up her phone during class, I wanted to share a comparison I see between what happened in the education system in China during the Cultural Revolution to what we are seeing in the education system today in the US. I'm not an expert in the field, and if there is anyone on reddit who may know more about the Cultural Revolution in China, their input here would be greatly appreciated.

During the Cultural Revolution, those representing academia or "brain power" were openly attacked by students on their school campuses. I can't share the link for some reason, but there are documents which support this.

I think there is a consensus that the issues of students and the general public attacking teachers were present before the pandemic, and were exacerbated after the pandemic. With this comparison being made, how likely is it that we are living in a cultural revolution, US style? If it is the case that we are living in such a scenario, it is scary to think about what happens next, as the Cultural Revolution in China coincided with the death of many people both inside and outside of education, all of whom were scene as elite or academic. Do you think we are progressing to a point where there may be violence occurring against the same demographic, and the increasing amount of school shootings are an indicator that the US is living in its own Cultural Revolution?

Answering this question may be helpful for how we can move past it based on how other communities moved past what we are seeing today.
