Ireland is on the verge of banning goods from Israeli settlements. This could be a game-changer.

In May 2025, the Irish government advanced a bill that could make it illegal to import goods from Israeli settlements in the occupied West Bank and East Jerusalem — territories widely recognized under international law as illegally occupied.

The bill is called the Israeli Settlements (Prohibition of Importation of Goods) Bill 2025. If it passes, Ireland would become the first EU country to enforce such a law — essentially making economic ties with the settlement enterprise a criminal offense.
