I am a British trans guy. I’m 15 and in Year 11. I’m neurodivergent. I have my exams in 2026 and I want to study Psychology. I’ve been looking into universities in Japan and China (Osaka, Seoul in Korea, Hong Kong, Kangsaigaidai, anywhere) and I want to look for universities preferably in Japan but I’m willing to take anywhere else in Asia really. I’ve just started learning Japanese and I hope after GCSEs to start taking it very seriously since this year I hope to start doing a little basic learning so I can revise and study (watch movies in Japanese - -or the language of the country I hope to study in- - do a couple lessons and study up on basics)
I’ve only ever been abroad to Europe before and I want a fresh start after sixth form in a new country expecting the things that most students that study abroad desire; friends, new experiences, qualifications, new culture, living independently (in a form).
Because I am still at GCSE level I figured if I want to take a class that isn’t English-taught (since not all courses will be taught in English in foreign countries, obviously) learning a language or languages now would be good.
I want to study Psychology and I also want to work for experience as well. I am not a very party person so Idm if I live in an area with not too many clubs or anything. I like going out for food and I hope to make friends there too.
I am also a transgender man so I hope to legally change my name before uni and be on hormones. I don’t know what HRT or top surgery will be like when I’m in the country I’ll be studying in but I can do my own research on that (if anyone has anything on the social norms on LGBT and the laws in the country you’re recommending that would be great).
What I’m really asking is what universities are good for psychology courses and what is the city like for exchange students.
