I'm a sophomore college student at a small public school and am in a Elementary Ed Licensure Program. My school has a 4+1 program where qualifying students who graduate from my school after spending four years here are able to come back for one additional year to complete their master's degrees in one year, and for significantly less money than the usual program.
The faculty of my department highly recommend this program, but I have heard some other students mention that getting my masters early would make me a less hire able candidate. I know that I would need to get my Masters at some point to continue working, but it would be longer and at the same time as working full time if that was the case.
Does having a masters before having a full employment experience hamper my ability to get hired?
