From CS to Education Policy?

Hi everyone! I’m (24F) looking for some insight on a career change I am considering. For some background, I graduated with a CS degree in 2018 and have been working in the field doing data analytics for almost 2 years now. I have also been volunteering with a group that offers STEM curriculums as after school programs to kids in underserved communities. I write the curriculums and oversee their progress and I love that work so much. Because I’ve realized that I love being in the education field and I’m pretty good at analysis and visualization, I’ve applied to a couple Education Policy masters programs and have already been accepted to my top choice school along with a couple others. My hope is to do education research focusing mainly on underserved, public middle school STEM education. I like the policy aspect as well to work with decision makers on reforming public school education policy. I guess my question is, would this degree give me the right tools to do that? For those of you who have degrees in ed policy, what kinds of jobs have you gone on to do? I am wondering if spending the money on a grad degree is worth it if I could do similar work without a masters. Thank you for reading and I appreciate any advice you have for me!
