Hey everyone my question as the title states is about varied practice and interleaving. Are they the same thing??? Or are they different?
Background: High School AP psychology teacher, extremely interested in the science of learning and educational psychology. My goal is to actively implement the research findings from these these two disciplines into my classrooms.
My Understanding:
For this example let’s say the students are doing a Practice Quiz
Interleaving - refers to practice that mixes up the questions by sub-topics within a subject. (e.g. Personality Unit: Trait theories, Psychoanalysis, Humanistic etc.)
Varied Practice - refers to practice that mixes up the difficulty of the questions (e.g. Acquisition, Application, Assimilation, Adaptation)
I would love to hear what you all think?
