I frequently hear stories about the challenge of engaging students in a remote setting. My background is in webcasts but I thought this would be relevant here too.
When I record a webcast, hardly anyone watches it. The people who attend the actual event the first time are the only ones who end up viewing the content. Am I right in assuming this is a challenge you face with your students? If yes then that's a shame because a video recording is a great resource!
I want to create a free tool that makes video recordings collaborative. With the recorded video, the student gets an interactive transcript they can use to skip to certain parts. Below the video player is a reddit-style discussion board for students to ask questions and collaborate, or attach resources they've found helpful.
Is this a dumb idea? Would you or your students find any benefit?
