Homework

Hi everyone,

Homework is something we all hate. We can all agree. Fun fact, homework wasn’t even meant to be mandatory. It was created in 1905 by Roberto Nevilis, and it was supposed to be a punishment for his students. There is a teacher who has publicly stated that she doesn’t give her students homework and I like that. Homework is just meant as extra practice, but how can it be extra practice if you’re just getting it from someone else? It’s just like wasting time copying something from one place to another. According to this teacher, she factually claims (and I can prove because I’m in high school) that students have responsibilities outside of school, myself included to some degree. Some students have jobs, some have to watch their younger siblings because their parents are at work, some have to order food because they don’t have any at home, and some just are tired. If we give them hours of homework, then they don’t have time to enjoy their youth and have fun, increase social skills, or take care of their responsibilities if they have any. Should we ban homework, what’s your thought on this?
