Are there any good articles about using point reward systems as a disciplinary practice and the impact on students with marginalized identities?

Just wondering if there’s any evidence saying that this is an equitable disciplinary practice for students. Definitely open to either argument and explanations/opinions, I’m just curious if there’s any research-based evidence for using this practice in a classroom.

Example: Table Groups of students are awarded points based on behavior/performance and there’s some kind of prize/reward for achieving a certain amount of points.

Is this still common practice in schools? What other class wide behavior systems are there and are they both effective and equitable?
