Supplementary Education for children in the Texas Public School system.

I 24 F am engaged to my partner 32 M who has a young daughter. I'm an immigrant from Canada and have post-secondary education, a major in pshycology and sociology. I want my soon-to-be stepdaughter to have a great education as well.

I know Texas doesn't score high on lists that quantify education by state. Do any parents here have any recommendations for things I should supplement for her as she goes through elementary and secondary school? What subjects are lacking in the public system? Thank you so much in advance.
