Why does the school boards allow perpetuation of myths in classrooms ?

The gender wage gap is really a myth as all professors of sociology and politics have concluded. I mean you can search any article that is peer-reviewed and takes into account all variables and it will literally show that in the US, the pay gap has been combatted since the 2000's.

In my government class in high school, they literally show the "for every man dollar 75 cents or whatever" sentence. Then I go to college and I literally conduct my own investigation and find out it is not true???? Like are we willingly perpetuating wrong info ? How is this legal. Technically the class does not specify why they are underpaid so it might not be illegal since there was no underlying reason just observational info.
